DNA Double Helix
3 coils of the DNA double helix,
consisting of nucleic acids, to dem-
onstrate base pairing. At the top
end is attached one RNA cord, to
show the basis of transcription.
On base.

Giant DNA Model
At nearly 90 cm in height, this DNA
Molecule is ideally suited to
the classroom environ-
ment. Magnetic connec-
tors, representing hy-
drogen bonds, permit
the two strands of the
double helix to unzip
completely, evoking
the mechanism of DNA
replication, and RNA syn-
thesis (genetic transcrip-
tion). Removable nucleo-
tides let students experience
first hand why a larger
purine base must always
pair with a smaller
pyrimidine base, and
that base pairs are
complementary –
adenine pairing with thymine and guanine pairing with cytosine. Non-separable atoms connected by permanent flexible “bonds” form the sugar-
phosphate backbone of the molecule. Encompassing six base pairs the
double helix is mounted on a wooden base and can be rotated.

Nucleic Acid Building Blocks
Coloured units (representing phos-
phoric acids, purines and pyrimi-
dines) for constructing DNA, t-RNA
and RNA helices. Also useful for
explaining replication and tran-
scription.

Advanced miniDNA™
12 Base RNA
Easily assemble this single strand
molecule which consists of the
4 bases, as in DNA, and Uracil. This
kit contains 12 bases, equivalent to
4 codons in a single strand model
of messenger RNA as well as 2 “clo-
ver leaf” shaped Transfer RNA parts
and 2 amino-acid parts. Together
with the 12 layer Advanced miniD-
NATM kit it can be used to model
the creation of RNA by transcrip-
tion. Furthermore, it provides
hands-on investigation into protein
synthesis known as translation.
Contents:
3 Uracil (light blue)
3 Adenine (blue)
3 Guanine (green)
3 Cytosine (yellow)
12 Ribose (red)
12 Phosphate (purple)

Minit Proview DNA model
This detailed teaching model uses
coloured atoms and bonds to help
pupils understand the chemical
structure of DNA. Students can
work in groups to create and study
the subassemblies: Thymine-Ade-
nine; Cytosine-Guanine, sugar rings
and phosphate groups which can
then be brought together to make
the finished model – nearly 1m
high (width 30 cm). 15 base pairs
show more than one turn of the
double helix and major and minor
grooves and illustrate the chemical
composition and types of bonding.
The model hangs between two
plates from clear strings and can be
supported by an optional display
stand.
Contents:
880 atoms, 1,200 bonds, support
plates for hanging, assembly in-
structions and worksheet in Eng-
lish.

DNA-RNA
The small DNA-RNA model shows
the double helix and how the mol-
ecules split at the centre of the
base pairs.
Items:
• 28 coloured tubes (Guanine red,
Cytosine green, Thymine blue,
Adenine grey)
• 12 white two prong centre, which
represents the hydrogen bond
between the base pairs
• 28 black trigonal atom centres
which represent sugar
• 25 red two prong atom centres,
which represent phosphate
groups
• 50 yellow tubes that link the
phosphate groups to the sugar
rings
• Wooden base with support rod
are included in the kit
