outstanding features of the polarisation microscopes 9982-1012403 and
9982-1012404. Their compact and ergonomic design makes it easier to
work with them. The main application for these microscopes is in mineral-
ogy where they are used to study rock specimens, identify minerals and in-
vestigate crystals. They may also be used in biology, though, for instance
when studying the structure of starch grains, the texture of cellulose fibres
in cell walls or the position of rod-like viruses in cells (e.g. tobacco mosaic
virus).

Robust, all metal stand with arm permanently connected to the base. Focussing by means of separate knobs for coarse and fine
adjustment located on either side of the stand and operated by rack and pinion drive with ball bearings and retaining lever, adjustable
stopper for protecting the object slides and objective.
